This course provides the participant with a decision and action template on how to investigate, evaluate, and determine the nature and severity of in-zone versus out-of-zone conduct and how to respond to that conduct as it relates to school operations. More specifically, we look at the school's authority beyond the school zone without the burden of responsibility. We also look at the school's ability to extend their authority to discipline for out-of-zone conduct of students through their words and actions, including internet conduct and its effect inside the school zone, by providing for school and police personnel key investigative methods to combat it.
The content and its attending resources will also provide you with a thorough understanding of what courts allow schools to control and sanction for as well as define the school's authority over students in their daily lives as it relates to the school environment. Questions concerning key policy language, implementation methods, and parent involvement are all answered for you.
